Divine Love

Divine Love

Divine Love

In this Morning Exercise for Day 4 of my 28 Day Gratitude Practice, in counting my blessings, I discover I am extremely grateful that I can feel Divine Love.

10 things I am grateful for today.

1. An increase in Divine Connection as the Spirit witnesses quietly to me when I am in alignment with truth. This is just one example of infinite, Divine Love. I felt it in great measure yesterday in church, after braving the icy roads to attend. The simple act of attending a church service with the intent to connect with God seems to be like a reset button – clearing away the cares of the past week and bringing balance and renewed energy for the next.
2. Gratitude for the beautiful souls and constant kindnesses of the people in my life.
3. Birds playing in the snow.  They remind me that live continues, whatever the season we are in.
4. The crisp stillness of cold winter air…
5. Ginger Cookies – gluten free, of course.
6. Grandma’s “Christmas Drink” recipe – Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Cloves in a blend of Apple Cider, Orange Juice, and Lemonaide mixed well and warmed with fond memories of Winters Past…
7. Electric appliances like clothes washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves and more… these modern conveniences afford me the time luxury of being introspective.
8. Beauty, symmetry, variety and randomness.
9. Music. There’s always a song in my head and in my heart…
10. Hope. Hope that today will be a beautiful day, inside and out. Hope for more soul satisfying experiences and a continuation of Divine Love.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
It is done, it is done, it is done.

Appreciation for My Physical Body

Appreciation for My Physical Body

Appreciation for My Physical Body

DAY 3 of My 28 Day Gratitude Practice: Counting My Blessings.
Today I am consciously aware and grateful for my appreciation for my physical body, and how it empowers me.

I received a blessing at age 16 that told me I am blessed with a beautiful, strong body.  But I doubted that truth. As a child, being very reflective of  generational attitudes, peer values and media messages, I had already picked up some very damaging misconceptions.  These twisted beliefs created inner conflicts regarding my self-image that damaged my feelings of self-worth and affected my ability to love and accept myself.  In turn, this affected my relationships, the way I approached my roles in life, my perception about my capabilities and my beliefs about what is possible for me to be, to become, and to accomplish.

Holistic healing of these misperceptions and resulting emotional issues has been a long journey, but I am so happy to be able to say I have worked through them, and I am truly grateful for my physical body. My body teaches me life lessons, empowers my choices and allows me the joy of creating my life, day by day.

This morning I awoke very early, feeling heavily burdened. At this particular time, I have been carrying some excess weight, despite healthy eating habits.  I have learned that my body is my teacher, so I began asking questions using my muscle testing process. I identified that I have been taking on and carrying some pretty heavy generational emotional burdens – habitually – and that habit has affected by physical physiology.

Apparrently, one of my earliest beliefs was that the way to ease the burdens of others is to take on, hold and carry their struggles, their pains and their troubles for them. Not so. I now realize that more correctly, my gifts as a healer are infinitely more effective when I activate my sacred gifts and become a facilitator, inviting and sharing divine love and light, and helping others to simply let their burdens go…. consciously, effortlessly, and joyfully….

So today, in increased conscious awareness, I used the Emotional Freedom Technique to free myself of this subconscious, debilitating habit. I can better use my holistic healing skills for good as I witness the healing power of divine love and light… so I began with myself. Tapping on my crown chakra and the tapping points on my face, torso and hands, I gave recognition to the issue, released it, sent it to the light, and felt comforted in my body, my spirit, and my soul. And for this, I am grateful.

My message to you today is to encourage you that it is never too late to heal your thoughts, heal your emotions, heal your relationships, and your life. And healing is often easier than you may think.

Counting My Blessings

So here’s ten blessings I am grateful for, in Appreciation of My Physical Body

1.     I can see.

2.     I can hear.

3.     I can breathe.

4.     I can smell.

5.     I can taste.

6.     I can walk.

7.     I can use my hands.

8.     I can move my body purposefully

9.     I can think.

10. I can use my body to bring my thoughts into physical reality and express myself.

I am so grateful that I have learned to love myself enough to appreciate the beauty of being in physical form as a human being on this amazing planet.  I am so grateful that I am able to use this beautiful physical body of mine to create experience this amazing world we live in.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is done, it is done, it is done.

Count Your Blessings

Count Your Blessings

Count Your Blessings

Count Your Blessings – the inspiration and the structure for my 28 Day Gratitude Practice comes from “The Magic” by Rhonda Byrne. This first exercise, to be repeated for 28 days, is called the “Count Your Blessings Practice”.

Count Your Blessings Practice

“First thing in the morning, make a list of ten blessings in your life you are grateful for.  Write why you are grateful for each blessing.  Go back and read your list, either in your mind or out loud.  When you get to the end of each one, say the magic words, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, and feel the gratitude for that blessing as much as you possibly can. Repeat the Count Your Blessings Practice for the next 27 days.”

This reminds me of the Christian Hymn, Count Your Many Blessings
“Count your many blessings, name them one by one.
Count your many blessings, see what God has done.”

Whether we look at the conditions of our lives as trials or blessings is simply a matter of perspective.
And perspective is a choice.
Maybe that’s where the magic comes from …
Our own choice of perspective…
I choose joy.

Gratitude for My Creature Comforts

Gratitude for My Creature Comforts

Creature Comforts – Day 2 of My 28 Day Gratitude Practice

What comes to mind today for my 28 day gratitude practice day 2, is that I am grateful for my creature comforts. I’m talking about the things that I take for granted in daily life… things that my ancestors and that people in some cultures of the world today do not have access to.  And I wonder, why am I so blessed to have been born in a place and time where I could experience so many creature comforts?  Why, in the design of this great universe, did I come into this mortal life in such a space and time as this? Who am I? What am I? Do I matter? “I think, therefore I am.”

I love that my thoughts are so clear in the early morning – and at that time I feel so connected and aligned with divine spirit. It brings joy to my soul.

I Love and Appreciate My Creature Comforts

Here are my joyful creature comforts for today, the 2nd day of my 28 day gratitude practice – creature comforts:
1. A warm bed. And it is comfortable.
2. Toilets that flush.  And yes, mine is in a private bathroom just off the master bedroom of our home. So I am grateful for my bedroom and my adjoining bathroom, too. No, this painted throne is not mine.  I found this photo on a real estate listing.  I thought it remarkable that the owner loves their throne so much that they painted it so beautifully and with such obvious love and appreciation. I am grateful that this one is actually NOT mine…. 🙂  Mine is simple, white in color, and it flushes.
3. Indoor plumbing…  I’m talking the ability to turn on a tap and instantly receive my choice of hot or cold running water… or lukewarm if I wish. So that means I am grateful for a working well, and for the water filtering system, too.
4. Electricity.  Without electrical power, our well wouldn’t work. And the rest of our utilities wouldn’t work. And I wouldn’t be so comfortable in daily life. So that brings me to my next thing.
5. Electric lights.  And light bulbs.  So I can, with a flick of the switch, illuminate any room in my house that I want to go into.
6. Electric heat. This is such a creature comfort on these long cold winter days. We live in a mild climate, but still cold in winter.  I don’t have to chop wood or build a fire to feel warm.  And if one room feels a little bit cold to me – I can turn the heat up or turn on the space heater any time I want.  Hmmm… that is a pretty powerful result for such a small, tiny action. Effortless even.  Such a different experience than what was the norm in generations past… and the conditions that still exist in some places of this world.
7. Soft, warm socks.  In the summer, I love to be barefoot.  I walk better that way – more balanced.  But in the winter, I love my soft, warm socks keeping my feet cushioned and warm. Mmmmm.
8. Shoes that fit me.  And that I can actually walk in. And that’s a story for another day.
9. The beautiful Belgian wool carpet in my bedroom. And for the trip to Belgium, but that, too, is a story for another day. Besides being gorgeous, this carpet, one of my favorite creature comforts, is thick and soft enough for me to be comfortable doing my morning stretching exercises on – including the Yoga Plank exercise. Yes, I am doing a 28 day Yoga Plank challenge with my daughter… along with this 28 day gratitude practice. I have a short enough attention span that  New Year Resolutions often get forgotten just a few weeks into the year.  But 28 days?  I can do that!!
10. Grocery stores.  Yep, I am really grateful that less that 3 miles from our home is a grocery store where I can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, and pretty much anything I want to eat.  The prices are reasonable and it is open 24 hours a day.  Now that is a creature comfort. Mmmm again.

Thank you for listening to my 28 Day Gratitude Practice Creature Comforts ramblings.  Because this is my personal 28 days of gratitude practice, it is totally ok for me to be talking completely about myself. And I am grateful for that, as I love to talk.

You are invited to my 28 days of gratitude party, and to create your own 28 day gratitude party if you want to. If you do, I’d love to be invited to yours, too. Gratitude is magnetic. The more we share words of gratitude, the more things will show up for us to be grateful for.

Blessings,

28 Day Gratitude Practice

28 Day Gratitude Practice

28 Day Gratitude Practice

I am beginning my New Year by Counting My Blessings with a 28 Day Gratitude Practice, introduced to me by my soul friend Jeanie Brosius King, and based on the book “The Magic”, by Rhonda Byrne. Here’s 10 things I am grateful for this morning.

I am excited to see what comes up for me each day as the practice progresses… as I count my blessings.  Will my thoughts of gratitude tend to be specific or general? Will my day to day activities be more important to me than taking time to be grateful?  Will I really find 10 different things to write about each day for 28 days?  If I can do it, I will complete this 28 day gratitude practice with a list of 280 blessings accounted for.

Well, I think I can do this… or I wouldn’t have agreed to begin.  I can do it because I live a lifestyle that allows me to sleep until completely rested, and my first waking thoughts include a practice of meditative prayer.  This early morning hour is for me, sacred, grounding, balancing, centering and connecting.  It feeds my soul.  And for that, I am most grateful.

So here’s my first 10 things I am grateful for on this first of my 28 Day Gratitude Practice.

  1. Life itself.
  2. My husband.
  3. Each of our children. There’s 5 of them…
  4. Each of our grandchildren… 14 so far, and more to come…
  5. A comfortable bed to sleep in, a roof over my head, and the beautiful trees that connect me with the Creator of All Things…Oh wait… that’s more than 10 things, and I have 27 more days of gratitude to go!

Sending blessings of gratitude, abundance of joy to the world in this New Year of 2016
